Explore the world of independent publishing in this creative, hands-on zine-making course! Participants will design and create their own mini publications using a mix of collage, drawing, writing, and illustration techniques. Using materials such as acrylic markers and mixed media supplies, you’ll learn how to combine visuals and text to express your ideas in a bold and personal way. This workshop is all about experimentation, storytelling, and self-expression; no previous experience is needed, just your creativity and curiosity.
What to expect:
Over the course of six weeks, students will explore the creative process of designing and producing their own handmade zines through a variety of mixed media techniques. Each class includes step-by-step demonstrations, guided creative exercises, and personalized instructor feedback in a fun, supportive environment that encourages experimentation and self-expression.
Participants will learn how to plan and structure a simple zine, combining text, illustrations, collage, and handwritten elements to tell stories and communicate ideas visually. Using acrylic markers and mixed media materials, students will experiment with bold compositions, expressive design, and creative layouts while developing their own artistic voice.
By the end of the course, students will have a completed handmade zine, a strong understanding of the zine-making process, increased confidence using mixed media techniques, and a unique publication that reflects their personal creativity and storytelling style.
