This 6-week course explores the fundamentals of colour theory through the vibrant and approachable subject of fruit illustration, using alcohol-based markers. This course focuses on building confidence with colour blending, layering, and rendering techniques while developing observational drawing skills. Each week students will learn a key colour concept such as hue, value, saturation, and colour harmony and applies it directly to drawing and colouring a variety of fruits, from simple forms like apples and bananas to more complex textures like citrus slices and berries. Students will learn how to create depth, realism, and visual impact using limited palettes, gradients, and marker-specific techniques. By the end of the course, participants will have a strong understanding of colour relationships, improved control of alcohol markers, and a portfolio of vibrant fruit illustrations showcasing their progress.

What to expect:

Over the course of six weeks, students will explore the fundamentals of colour theory while creating vibrant fruit illustrations with alcohol-based markers. Each class combines step-by-step demonstrations, guided practice, and personalized instructor feedback in a supportive and creative environment.

Participants will gradually build confidence in colour blending, layering, and marker control while learning how to apply concepts such as hue, value, saturation, and colour harmony. Through observational drawing exercises, students will study the shapes, textures, and details of a variety of fruits, developing techniques to create realistic depth, highlights, and shading.

By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of colour relationships, improved alcohol marker rendering skills, and a collection of polished fruit illustrations that showcase their artistic progress.
