Spring Time Adventures: Nature Rainbow Walk

I recently was reminded of a nature rainbow walk from my mother. It was always a quick and fun way to get me out of the house when I was younger, and it still holds up as such a simple, creative activity today.

This is an easy, low-effort way to reconnect with nature. All you need is an old egg carton, some markers or paint, and a good pair of running shoes. Start by colouring each section of the egg carton sections with a different colour of the rainbow, this becomes your very own nature collection holder.

Now comes the fun part. Head out to your favourite park or trail and begin collecting items that match each colour, flowers, sticks, rocks, or anything else you come across. It turns a simple walk into something interactive and intentional.

It’s a great way to spend time outside, whether with family, friends, or even as a unique date idea. It also gives you a chance to unplug and step away from screens for a bit. The activity can take as long or as little time as you want, and it might even lead you to explore a new path you’ve never taken before.

Just remember to be mindful, be kind to nature and only take what you need.

“It’s a simple way to unplug, get outside, and rediscover the world through colour.”
