Workshop Overview

In this workshop, you’ll discover how to paint an anime-style sakura tree with gouache. Gouache behaves differently than watercolour – opaque, forgiving, and great for building layers – and we’ll get familiar with it while painting a tree. All skill levels welcome. Come find your way with gouache in our studio, alongside others who are learning too.

• Anime-style tree shapes – Simple, clear trunk and branch structures that read well and feel like anime or illustration.

• Layering and depth – Working light over dark and dark over light to add depth and mood to your trees.
• Your own style – Space to experiment, make “beautiful mistakes,” and leave with a few pieces that feel like yours.
