This four-session watercolour painting course introduces participants to the fundamentals of watercolour techniques while encouraging experimentation and personal expression. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on exercises, students will learn how water, pigment, and paper interact to create transparent layers, soft blends, and expressive textures. By the end of the course, students will have completed multiple watercolour paintings that showcase their understanding of technique, colour, and individual style.
What to expect:
Throughout the four sessions, students will explore the core principles of watercolour painting through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice. Each class will focus on understanding how water, pigment, and paper interact, allowing students to create transparent washes, smooth gradients, and layered effects. Participants will gradually build their skills by experimenting with colour mixing, brush control, and texture techniques.
As the course progresses, students will apply these techniques to develop multiple small studies and at least one more refined watercolour painting. The structured progression across all four sessions helps students gain confidence, improve control, and discover their own artistic style. Regular attendance is encouraged to fully experience the learning process and complete the final artworks.
What students will learn:
- Apply basic watercolour techniques, including washes, layering, and blending.
- Mix colours and control value to create depth and contrast.
- Build confidence and personal style through experimentation with watercolour.
