About this event

Join artist and poet Angelica Candido for an evening of creative exploration through mixed media art and poetry. In this guided workshop, we’ll get hands-on with collage, watercolor, ink, and thoughtful writing prompts that invite you to explore your personal and cultural roots—all in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.

We’ll begin by selecting words and images that speak to your identity, then layer them with expressive watercolor techniques to create a meaningful collage. Through guided writing exercises, you’ll reflect on themes of heritage, memory, growth, and transformation, weaving your visual and written work into a personal journal page.

This is a welcoming, accessible space for all levels (ages 16+), where art becomes a bridge between storytelling and shared experience. No prior art or writing experience is needed—just curiosity and openness. All materials are provided.

We’ll conclude with a friendly show-and-tell for those who wish to share their work, which may be featured in our community zine. This workshop is part of a series leading up to “What We Carry” (Oct 10)—a community open mic, zine, and art showcase featuring local performers.
