Are you a fan of washi and beautiful paper products? Then you will love The Japanese Paper Place.
The Japanese Paper Place is a one-stop resource for traditional Japanese paper also known as washi used for fine art, craft, and conservation. Their showroom is located in 103 The East Mall, Unit 1 Toronto, ON M8Z 5X9.

Washi or Wa meaning Japan and Shi meaning paper is a term used for traditional Japanese Papers. Washi is made using fibres from the inner barks of renewable shrubs indigenous to Japan. These shrubs are known as Kozo, Mitsumata, and Gampi. Some fibres from hemp, abaca, wood pulp, and rayon are also mixed with the three primary fibres.
These Japanese papers are a labor of love that start from harvesting the shrubs and processing the branches until they become fibres that will then be again processed to finally create Washi – all by hand.

The Washi you will find at The Japanese Paper Place are all imported from Japan. You can also find gifts, creative supplies, origami, and other packaged assortments. So whether you’re interested in calligraphy, watercolor painting, or simply beautiful paper like the Chiyogami – which is washi printed with symbols inspired by textile and kimono patterns, you will love The Japanese Paper Place.
