Job Title - Art Instructor

Location: 57 Mill Street, Brampton, near Go station
Job Type: Part-time 20-25hours/week (includes Weekends)

Job Summary:

The Art Instructor will teach painting and drawing to students ranging from children (ages five and up) to adults. Responsibilities include developing an engaging and age-appropriate curriculum, fostering creativity, providing guidance on foundational and advanced techniques, managing class schedules, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

Teaching:

  • Plan and conduct painting and drawing classes for diverse age groups.
  • Instruct students on fundamental techniques and progressively advanced skills.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit the developmental stages of children.

Curriculum Development:

  • Develop and update class curriculum to cater to various age groups.
  • Integrate both painting and drawing techniques into the curriculum.
  • Create projects that inspire creativity and self-expression.

Class Management:

  • Manage class schedules to ensure smooth progression of projects.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide guidance on the proper use of art materials and tools.

Feedback and Assessment:

  • Offer constructive feedback to students to enhance their skills.
  • Assess and evaluate student artwork, providing guidance for improvement.

Communication and Qualifications:

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and studio management.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects or events.
  • Proven experience as an art instructor with a focus on painting and drawing.
  • Strong knowledge of foundational and advanced art techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of child development for age-appropriate instruction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, for special events.

The Pottery Instructor will lead classes for diverse skill levels, guiding students in creating pottery with a focus on technical skills and artistic expression. Responsibilities include fostering a positive learning environment, managing materials, and offering constructive feedback.

Responsibilities:

Teaching:

  • Planned and delivered pottery classes, adapting methods for diverse skill levels.
  • Instruct hand-building, wheel-throwing, and glazing techniques.

Curriculum Development and Creativity:

  • Develop/update class curriculum to meet student needs and interests.
  • Integrate fundamental and advanced pottery techniques.
  • Inspire and foster creativity; a personal pottery portfolio is a plus.

Class and material Management:

  • Manage schedules for timely project completion.
  • Maintain a safe and organized studio environment.
  • Assist students with tool and equipment use.
  • Manage and organize pottery materials, tools, and equipment.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in hand-building and wheel-throwing.
  • Familiarity with clay types, glazes, and kiln operation.

Feedback and Assessment:

  • Provide constructive feedback for skill improvement.
  • Assess and guide students on areas of enhancement.
  • Encourage a positive and supportive learning atmosphere.

Qualifications:
Proven pottery instruction experience or demonstrable expertise.
Strong knowledge of pottery techniques, glazing, and firing.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create an inclusive learning environment.
Current First Aid/CPR certification is required as a condition of employment.
