Gouache is as versatile a medium as watercolors, acrylics, and oils. In this course, we want to explore using gouache to paint a night landscape. Students will learn how to smoothly blend gouache to create gradients – a technique commonly used for painting landscapes and skies. You will also learn the proper way to layer gouache paint without bothering the colors you want to keep as is. We will learn these techniques each week and while working on a final landscape painting.

What to expect:  
This workshop is for students who want to grow their gouache painting skills. It’s a 4-week course which will start with learning the brushing, blending, paint mixing techniques first before we move on to painting a landscape.

WEEK 1: Practice blending gradients
WEEK 2: Learn step-by-step gouache landscape painting
WEEK 3: Pick a reference image for final painting
WEEK 4: Refine and finish final painting

What students will learn:  
– How to blend gouache to create smooth gradients
– How to layer gouache when painting landscapes
– How to simplify a reference image for painting

Students will leave with a finalized, gallery-ready Gouache Night Landscape painting and a strong foundational understanding of professional blending and layering techniques unique to the gouache medium.
