Celebrate the festive season with watercolour! In this workshop, you’ll learn to create beautiful, holiday-inspired botanical illustrations using watercolour. We will focus on capturing the vibrant beauty of seasonal plants like holly, poinsettias, and mistletoe. You’ll explore different watercolour techniques that bring depth, texture, and vibrant colour to your botanical subjects, creating holiday-themed paintings that will brighten any home or holiday card.
Workshop Content:
Introduction (5 mins)
– Welcome participants and explain the activity for today.
Overview of watercolour techniques (10 minutes)
– Briefly explain the watercolour techniques that we will use like wet on wet, wet on dry, layering, lifting, and adding highlights
Painting proper (1 hour and 10 minutes)
– Paint the subjects layer by layer, from light to dark. Interchanging between subjects while waiting for paint to completely dry.
Wrap up (5mins)
– Ask participants to share their paintings and how they feel about watercolor painting.
